i love peanut butter | dialogue i'd simply DIE FOR

“I love peanut butter!” I exclaim. “I just LOVE PEANUT BUTTER!” 

I point at the shelves of the grocery store, because I’m craving sugar and I’m on my period and I need her to know that I love peanut butter. So, I say it one more time: “I love peanut butter!”

Then she says, “I love you.” 

I freeze, shell-shocked, standing in sweatpants and a t-shirt at 8:30pm in a grocery store and she just said that…right? She says it again, “I love you.”

I look at her, her eyes shining and her smile contagious and I mirror her in every ounce of her evident affection as I say, “I love you, too...I love you, too.”
